Curriculum Overview - Autumn 1 2016

Welcome to Einstein Class. I am very much looking forward to getting to know the children taking them on an exciting and memorable learning journey.

  • Book bags are due in everyday with your child’s reading book and reading record (reception will be sent a reading book over the next few weeks).  Please listen to your child read every day where possible and complete the reading record. We will change the books as and when needed. Your child may not read their book at school every day but will complete a reading activity and phonics lesson.
  • Home challenges are sent out on a Friday and are due in on a Wednesday. Year Ones will have homework in a ‘home challenge’ book and reception children will have an activity in the ‘busy book’. Reception parents can also find ‘WOW’ moment sheets in here too for our ‘WOW tree’.
  • Year Ones will get spellings to practise with their homework. These will come home on a Friday and the children will have a quiz on them the following Friday.
  • Look out for your child’s sound books. I recommend that the children practise their sounds daily. This could even be done in the bath!
  •  Please remember to check your child’s book bag for any letters. It is your child’s responsibility to hand in any letters as staff do not have time to be looking through every child’s book bag each day.
  • Please ensure your child’s P.E kit is in school on a Monday morning.
  • Your child needs a water bottle every day. Sun cream must be applied before school (when necessary). You can put sun cream in your child’s bag (named) for your child to apply independently. We also suggest a sun hat and a water proof coat every day.  Wellies are also required for the outdoor area. These can be kept in school.
