Curriculum Overview Autumn term

Spelling fun

Welcome back!

It has been a busy term already settling in to our new class. All the children have been working really hard.

Important dates/days:

Homework - This will be sent out weekly on a Friday in the children's homework folders. Please can homework be returned, completed, on the following Wednesday in the folder with the most recent piece on top.

Spellings - These will be sent out on Friday with the homework.  We are in the process of compiling these into a spelling book so that parents and carers can see how well their child has done each week. The spelling test will take place on the following Friday afternoon.  You can find the 'Spelling Fun' letter within our class page of the school website.  This letter contains suggestions about different ways to practise spellings each week.  There is a wide variety so children can 'pick and mix' these as they wish.

PE -  PE will be on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Please ensure that children bring their PE kit to school on  Mondays.  This will ensure that they have it for both sessions each week.  Currently both PE sessions are indoors, which is slightly different from the information first shared with parents/carers.  This is due to a change in coaching arrangements.

Reading - All children are expected to practise their reading on a daily basis. This will aid their development of decoding, comprehension and expand their vocabulary.  Each child has been given a reading record so that you can write a short note each time your child reads at home.  Children are able to change their books as frequently as needed. Once they have finished a book, they can inform me and then select another book.

If you ever have any questions, queries or worries please do not hesitate to come see me or contact school to arrange an appointment.

Thank you

Miss Gordon
